Born from the same spirit of independence that fueled the bootleggers and rum-runners of early Fort Lauderdale, Gulf Stream Distillery’s American Agave Spirit is our coastal take on a timeless tradition. Crafted in small batches in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this agave spirit blends traditional agave character with the smooth finish and craftsmanship Gulf Stream Distillery is known for.
Our American Agave Spirit is carefully distilled to highlight the natural sweetness and earthy complexity of agave while delivering a clean, smooth finish that works perfectly in cocktails or enjoyed neat. This spirit represents our passion for experimentation, craftsmanship, and honoring the adventurous spirit of South Florida.
More than a century ago, rum-runners and bootleggers traveled the waters off Fort Lauderdale, moving spirits along the Gulf Stream and up the New River, helping earn the city the nickname “Fort Liquordale.” Today, Gulf Stream Distillery honors that legacy by crafting small-batch spirits inspired by those risk-takers and pioneers.
Our American Agave Spirit continues that tradition — a spirit inspired by tequila but crafted with Gulf Stream Distillery’s Florida roots, small-batch process, and dedication to quality.
GULF STREAM DISTILLERY ANEJO DOUBLE BARREL AGAVE SPIRIT AGED IN A SHERRY & BOURBON BARREL
The Double Barrel Agave Spirit combines the best of both of the other two Agave Spirits. We took the standard Premium Agave Spirit and barrel-aged it in Bourbon Barrels for a while until it created the flavor notes we were looking for. Then we made the dramatic and calculated shift into a Sherry Cask to amplify the flavor notes, creating a smooth 100 Proof Agave Spirit you can mix or enjoy neat or on the rocks.

The Bourbon Barrel Agave Spirit combines the clean taste of 100% Pure Blue Agave with the flavor enhancements from our Bourbon Barrels. We craft and distil this on-site at our distillery. Place it in Bourbon Barrels and age it to perfection in the sweltering Florida Heat in our Barrel Room. The Florida Heat helps magnify all of the flavors and aromas found in this unique Agave Spirit.

Place it in Sherry Casks and age it to perfection in the sweltering Florida Heat in our Barrel Room. The Florida Heat helps magnify all of the flavors and aromas found in this unique Agave Spirit.

Tequila can only be called tequila if it is produced in specific regions of Mexico and made according to strict regulations set by the Mexican government. While our spirit is distilled from agave and inspired by traditional tequila-making methods, it is crafted in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Because it is produced outside of the designated tequila regions of Mexico, it must legally be labeled as American Agave Spirit rather than tequila.
