More than 100 years ago, rum-runners and bootleggers traveled the waters just offshore along the Gulf Stream, transporting spirits from the Caribbean to South Florida during Prohibition. These smugglers helped give Fort Lauderdale the nickname “Fort Liquordale.”
Gulf Stream Distillery was built to honor that history and the independent spirit of the entrepreneurs, smugglers, and risk-takers who helped shape South Florida. Our American Whiskey continues that tradition — a modern craft whiskey inspired by the past and crafted for today.

“This is one of my first recipes after moving into the craft distilling world after being a professional brewer. I wanted a complex base flavor, big caramel notes, hints of rye spice, a soft and silky finish, and just a touch of dusty wicker. Based on that, I chose to use Munich-style malt, crystal malt, malted rye, wheat and oats, and a touch of corn. ”
